2015 NXL World Cup Recap

By NXL 0

Last week, over 300 teams came to Kissimmee from Russia, Czech Republic, Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina, Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Peru, France, Guatemala and Singapore to compete in the first ever NXL World Cup of Paintball Presented by Kissimmee Sports!

Conveniently located right next to Walt Disney World, the gorgeous backdrop of the Gaylord Palms Resort greeted attendees while beautiful weather made the 40-vendor trade show enjoyable all event long.  Vendors came from as far as Austria, Spain, France, Sweden, Australia and the United Kingdom.  The largest vendor compounds were of the NXL Master Sponsors Valken, Planet Eclipse, Empire, GI Sportz, DLX and Dye.  Silver Sponsors who also supported the NXL Trade Shows all season long included Ninja, Virtue, Trade My Gun, Anthrax and HK Army.  Many vendors new to the NXL added to the allure of the World Cup trade show including Rush Paintballs, Vortex Bunkers, Gangster Paintball, Exalt, Skirmish Photos, Social Paintball, CK Fightlife, KM, Machine Gun America, Paintball Promos, Paintball.Media, PB Rack, Pinokio Hoppers, and UNDR Industries.  BLAST Techs, Kissimmee Sports and the APPA were on site assisting customers throughout the week.

Debra Dion-Krischke of Team Effort Events coordinated a Bob Gurnsey Memorial Service and Historical Live Auction to honor the father of paintball who passed away earlier this year.  Legends in the paintball world traveled in specifically to pay tribute to Mr. Gurnsey’s dedication to our sport during a special ceremony.  Funds for the Gurnsey family were raised throughout the weekend  by the sales of “Thanks Gurns” cups and through donations.

A custom made human foosball court, volleyball court, elephants and professional drum line kept the atmosphere alive and energetic throughout the 5-day trade show.  Sold out grandstands and VIP sections stayed packed throughout the weekend as incredible matches played out on the Pro field.  Those unable to attend were able to capture the magic from the pro field by watching the live webcast at PlayNXL.com.  This included a remarkable on-point call during the chaotic last seconds of the Pro final between San Diego Dynasty and Houston Heat.   San Diego Dynasty were able to eliminate the Heat player just as he was about to hit the buzzer – giving San Diego Dynasty the win and the 2015 NXL World Cup Championship!
